About this performance
From the high-energy circles of the northern and central regions to the rhythmic folk forms of Punjab, Sindh and beyond, VPAG's folk repertoire celebrates the festive spirit of Pakistan's regions. Bright costume, driving percussion and infectious energy make these acts crowd favourites.
We programme folk sets with contrast in mind. Bhangra and Giddha together read very differently from Bhangra alone, and Dhamal adds a grounded physical intensity that balances both. That contrast is what keeps a longer show feeling alive rather than repetitive.
