About this performance
Drawing on the poetic and devotional character of Sufi traditions, VPAG presents performances that move audiences through rhythm, whirling motion and quiet intensity. These acts are crafted with respect for the tradition and its spiritual meaning.
The rotating form associated with the khalifa and kaqgar communities, along with the celebratory Attan tradition of the Punjab, gives us two distinct but related vocabularies. We use them to create an arc — stillness building to rotation — rather than a single repeated image.
